  • The clinical class will be both a continuation of the Introductory Channel Palpation class and an opportunity to see channel palpation and diagnosis with real patients. The format for the two-day class will involve both lectures on new material and clinical demonstration on patients from the Portland area.

  • Attending local practitioners will provide complex patients who will consent to be treated by Mr. Robertson, and palpated by the class.  Some types of diseases that he will be working on are: Compromised immunity, endocrine dysfunction, dermatological disease, and other complicated patterns.

  • Each hour of the class will entail a hands-on learning experience with a focus on channel palpation, differential diagnosis, and treatment. In the course of treating patients, Mr. Robertson will talk about what he feels while palpating the channels, how he arrives at his diagnosis, and how he would choose a treatment plan for each patient in front of him. A treatment plan will involve discussion of point prescriptions for the current and future treatments as well as an estimate of how many treatments each patient might need.

  • The treatment schedule will consist of treating 12 patients, over the course of the two day class.  Treatment will be free for the patient who is willing to be treated by Mr. Robertson, and observed by the class.

  • Interspersed between the treatment of patients will be four small lectures on the use of five-shu, source and collateral points, the cleft points, and the San Jiao. The class will be open to both new attendees and students who attended the first channel palpation class.

  • Attendees should be familiar with Mr. Robertson’s book or have attended the first channel palpation lecture.

    • New students should note:

    • As a means of preparing new students for the clinical class, an assigned reading from Mr.Robertson's book "Applied Channel Theory in Chinese Medicine: Wang Ju-Yi’s Lectures on Channel Therapeutics" by Eastland Press, will be assigned. New students will be asked to submit 2-3 questions from the reading to the CM-DB by email. Questions will be chosen for discussion from these questions on the first day of the seminar. The goal of this assignment is to attempt to get all new students up to speed and to answer common questions regarding channel palpation.

Channel palpation clinical rounds March 19, 2009
Reviewer: Eran Even from Port Moody, BC Canada
Jason's channel palpation course was extremely informative and very practical.  I was able to start incorporating these techniques into my practice a few days after returning home.  Jason's style of teaching is very fluid and it is very clear that he has a deep understanding of what he is teaching, which shows in his encouters with patients and delivery of material.
In addition, the Chinese medicine database team did an extraordinary job in facilitating this course and I would not hesitate doing another course in the future put on by them.  Thank you.

Channel Palpation. December 23, 2008
Reviewer: scott stuart from Portland, OR United States
The Channel Palpation seminar is one of the most useful I have attended.  Much of the class is hands-on practice.  I began using the skills &  knowledge I gained the very next day in my clinic, and I use the techniques from the seminar with every patient.  It has helped refine my diagnosis and focus my treatment strategies.  I look forward to another Channel Palpation seminar to further advance my skills in this important technique.  The first seminar focused on Palpation in diagnosis.  The only reason I have not given Five Stars here is that due to time constraints we were not able to spend more time on treatment strategies.  No doubt that will be the focus of the next seminar.  I have just purchased the book and plan on reading it before I attend the next Channel Palpation seminar.
